Sõnumid on saadaval meie kodulehel http://portlandesto.org/uploads/Portlandi-Sonumid-2018-12.pdf

Viimastel päevadel on huvitavaid uudiseid Eesti meedias. Tänases lehes on artikel meie tuntud Eesti ja Balti kultuuri professorist Guntis Smidchens’ist Seattle’is. https://leht.postimees.ee/6483889/latlane-opetab-usa-ulikoolis-eesti-keelt

Soovime kõigile ilusaid pühi!

Portlandi Eesti Seltsi nimel,
Kalev Sepp

Christmas time is here and on behalf of the Portland Estonian Society we wish you Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.
Hopefully all members of the Society have received the December 2018 Portland Estonian newsletter in the mail. We are still looking for an editor and contributions. In meantime I wanted to keep the tradition live in memory of Helmuth and others who have used the Teated and Sõnumid to get the word around and report on our accomplishments and concerns. Thanks to all we donated to Church/Selts to publish greetings in the newsletter!

Greetings that did not make to Sõnumid are from “Under Fate’s Wing” author Hillevi Ruumet who lives in Ashland, OR. She is inviting you to read her book about immigration to US and life in early 1950s. The book  is available from https://hillevi-ruumet.com or Amazon.

The latest newsletter is posted on our website http://portlandesto.org/uploads/Portlandi-Sonumid-2018-12.pdf

Thanks for a good turnout at our Christmas party. Kids did a wonderful job with performing as a group as well as individually for Santa. Video can be seen at this link: https://youtu.be/tn29Ff5EEik

Remember that there is a Christmas Service at 2pm on December 24th in the Latvian Church.
The Portland mixed choir and kannel ansemble will perform.

There have been some interesting articles in Estonian news, for example about Guntis Smidchens, our beloved Estonian and Baltic Professor at the University of Washington.
